Residential Dumpster Rental in Melbourne, FL

Roll-offs sized for Melbourne driveways — a Suntree kitchen gut, a beachside turnover in Indialantic, or thirty years of garage and attic storage. Protection boards go down on every set, and we size for block and tile weight before the truck leaves the yard.

Melbourne houses sit on a slab, so nothing gets stored below grade here. Thirty years of accumulation ends up in the garage, the attic above it, a shed out back and the screen room off the patio, and it all comes out through one overhead door instead of up a staircase. That makes the volume easy to underestimate and the weight easy to misjudge, because behind the drywall on furring strips is concrete block, and under the carpet in a lot of mid-century Eau Gallie and Melbourne Beach homes there is terrazzo.

Access decides the rest. Beachside driveways in Indialantic and Melbourne Beach are short, narrow and often shell or paver rather than poured concrete, and a screen enclosure or pool cage means the hoist has nowhere to swing on the pool side of the house. Sandy soil ruts under a loaded truck after a wet week, so we stay on the hard surface. Our Melbourne size guide and the driveway protection rundown cover what we check before backing in.

Wes Collins started running cans on the Space Coast in 2015, and the crew has set containers on most of these streets more than once. Same-day and next-day delivery covers the bulk of the city, swaps go out the next morning, and protection boards are standard rather than a line on the invoice. Tell us the age of the house, whether terrazzo or tile is coming up, and how wide the driveway apron is, and we will tell you honestly whether a 15 or a 20 belongs there.

What Melbourne Homeowners Actually Clear Out

Garage And Attic Purge

The two real storage rooms in a Florida house. Attic material is light and bulky, garage material is dense and awkward, and the mix usually balances out into one comfortable mid-size load.

Kitchen And Bath Remodel

Cabinets, laminate counters, a soffit and the old fixtures go together. Tile, mortar bed and backer board are the heavy part, so we size on tonnage rather than on how full the box looks.

Terrazzo And Tile Floor Removal

Mid-century Melbourne homes hide terrazzo under the carpet. Broken terrazzo, thinset and ceramic are dense enough that a small container fills by weight while it still looks half empty.

Screen Room And Pool Cage Debris

Aluminium extrusion, screen mesh, kickplate and the concrete deck under it. Light metal and heavy concrete load very differently, so we usually keep the deck slab in its own container.

Interior Wall And Popcorn Ceiling Work

Drywall on furring strips, trim and textured ceiling. Anything pre-1980 gets tested first, because we cannot take asbestos-containing material in a container under any circumstances.

Storm And Yard Debris

Palm fronds, limbs and hedge trimmings after a blow. Florida separates yard trash from solid waste, so vegetative material rides as its own clean load to a mulching facility.

Estate And Downsizing Cleanouts

Furniture, mattresses and a lifetime of stored belongings from a long-held Brevard home. Closing dates and family schedules do not move, so we set early and pull before the walkthrough.

Snowbird And Seasonal Turnovers

Condo and second-home turns cluster around spring departure. Furniture, rugs, patio sets and stored boxes load loose over a weekend, and the container is gone before the season ends.

Sizing A Container For A Melbourne Home

A 15 yard is the size we set most often on residential streets here, because it fits a short beachside driveway with room to walk past it and it sits low enough to load over the side without building a ramp. Step up to a 20 yard for a whole-house cleanout or a full remodel where cabinetry, flooring and furniture all leave together. The 10 yard is the right call for anything dense — terrazzo, tile, block or a concrete pool deck — where weight ends the job long before the walls fill. That is the mistake we correct most often around Melbourne: somebody books the biggest box on the list for a heavy load, gets it a third full, and pays to move a lot of empty steel across the causeway.

Driveways, Pavers And Sandy Ground

Protection boards go under the rails on every residential set, and we photograph the surface when we arrive so nothing is in dispute afterwards. Paver and shell drives need more care than poured concrete, because pavers move under a point load and shell simply gives way, so on a marginal drive we would rather set on the flattest firm ground available than risk the apron. Sandy soil and a high water table mean soft turf ruts fast after summer rain, and a loaded truck will find every soft spot. Watch overhead too: mature oaks, palms and low service drops hang over a lot of these narrow drives. Move the cars out before delivery, keep the load level with the top rail, and if you are in a Suntree or Viera association, confirm placement rules with them first. More detail sits in our delivery-day protection guide.

Residential Dumpster Rental FAQs

Do I need a permit for a dumpster at my Melbourne home?

Not for a container that stays on your own driveway, which is where nearly all residential drops go. A permit or right-of-way approval comes into play when the box has to sit in a public street, and on some narrow beachside blocks that does happen. Start with the City of Melbourne and read our Melbourne permit guide. Requirements get amended, so confirm before delivery day.

My HOA in Suntree has rules. How do we handle that?

Call them before you book. Suntree, Viera, Baytree and most beachside condo associations set rules on where a container may sit, how many days it may stay, and whether an approval form is needed first. Some require the box on the driveway only, never the street or the swale. We will work to whatever placement they allow, including a shorter rental window and a faster pull. Association rules get amended regularly, so verify the current version rather than the one from last year.

Can palm fronds and yard trash go in with the remodel debris?

No, and this catches more Melbourne homeowners than anything else. Florida separates yard trash from solid waste, so fronds, limbs, grass and hedge trimmings have to travel as a clean vegetative load to a mulching or yard-waste facility. Mixing them into a construction load gets the whole container reclassified or rejected at the scale. Book yard waste removal as its own pull and keep two piles on the ground from day one.

My house is from the 1950s. What about asbestos and lead paint?

Pre-1980 Florida homes routinely turn up asbestos in popcorn and textured ceilings, floor tile and mastic, and pipe insulation, and anything built before 1978 is presumed to carry lead paint under the EPA renovation rule. We cannot accept asbestos-containing material in any container and will reschedule rather than haul a contaminated load. Test first. Florida DEP and the Florida Department of Health set the requirements, and those do change.

Where do I put leftover paint, solvents and pool chemicals?

Not in the container. Liquid paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, fuel and automotive fluids are household hazardous waste and they belong at a Brevard County household hazardous waste drop-off, not in a roll-off. Dried-out latex paint cans with the lids off are usually acceptable, but check first. Brevard County publishes the current drop-off locations and accepted items, and the list does get revised.
